In an effort to give a vital boost to the appliance industry, the Govt. will be instituting a cash for clunkers program for home appliances, much as they did for the automotive industry. While timing for the program hasn’t been finalized yet, I’ve heard that it could be instituted by the end of the year. The Government has already allotted $300 million in taxpayer money to finance the program. The early details are that consumers will receive $200 towards high-efficiency upgrades for appliances such as washers, refrigerators, dishwashers and air conditioners.
